Live Streaming With ATEM Studio HD

PostWed Sep 20, 2017 4:51 am

N00b here so be gentle

I want to set up a 2 camera, 2 mic + 1x console input and have that sent to my laptop/computer to them be recorded or live streamed.

See below the current set up

Problems I'm having
1: I cant configure the ATEM software as it wont find it. It seems to recognize it but then wont let me connect it. Does the ATEM have to be on a live network? As I want this to be a potential portable system.
2: Can I do Picture in Picture with this set up? (assuming it's in the software I cant run)

Hi Ashley,

1. You can use it connected directly, you just need to assign a static IP and subnet mask to both your computer and the ATEM. It probably defaults to DHCP, so you'll just need to change it to static. You can probably use the IP 192.168.2.1 for your computer and 192.168.2.2 for your Atem. For the subnet mask you'll set it to 255.255.255.0. That should allow you to control it.

2. There are a couple ways you can do a PIP with this switch. One is to use a transition, but using the upstream key with the DVE option is probably best. You can scale and move it, then set the keyframe A, then have it fly fullscreen or offscreen.

Good luck!

The default IP of the switcher should be: 192.168.10.240 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Your laptop needs a static ip address of 192.168.10.xxx replacing the xxx with a number, choose 10.

Your laptops settings will now be 192.168.10.10 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 you can leave the rest blank since you're directly connected to the switcher.

I was having the same setup issue as Ashley. I am using a MacBook Pro, which does not have an ethernet port, and so am using an Apple USB ethernet adapter. I left the IP address of my computer alone, but set the IP address of the ethernet adapter to a static IP and setting the IP address of the switcher to a different IP - everything started working perfectly!

I'm not sure if this is was I was supposed to be doing all along, but it worked for me - hopefully it's helpful for someone.

I am using a MacBook Pro too, so use a USB Ethernet dongle.

I used the ATEM Setup (connected via USB2) for the initial setup, then followed the detailed instructions in the ATEM user manual to manually set up the switcher's IP address, and it worked perfectly.
