Creating animation with alpha channel in Adobe After Effects

PostWed Apr 03, 2013 6:34 pm

Hi Guys

Has anyone had any luck creating an animation in Adobe After Effects to play with an alpha channel through the media player?

I have a wave shaped lower third which I want to animate, but I just can't get smooth edges.

I've tried exporting with the following settings but to no joy :(

Format - Targa Selection
Channels - RGB + Alpha
Depth - Millions of Colors+
Color - Premultiplied (Matted)

There are two options

1) Alfa in the file (option of export) -> RGB + Alpha

2) Export two separate files -> once only RGB and secound only Alpha.

Im useing that secound method to work with CasparCG for all wraps, bumpers, lowerthirds, and so on.

Hi

I did try the Alpha + RGB, I don't have Casper CG so need to keep it contained to the media player.

Problem I had with that, the edge of the lower third was perfectly smooth - but the rest of the screen had a slight haze over it.

On the DSK I have Pre Multiplied Key selected which I assume is right, as if I untick that, the edge of the lower third goes jaggered edge again.

Im not familiar with ATEM DSK setup. In case CasparCG, you need two signals - one for fill, and one for key - so than in ATEM you setup it acordignly as two dfferent sources.

The DSK is setup with Media Player 1 for source and Media Player 1 Key for key fill - just in the same way when it's setup for Photoshop exports, but I'm thinking maybe what I want to do isn't possible?

what ATEM model you got?

I know that at TVS you can't add clips into media pool. 1 M/E will take clip in TARGA sequence.

Hi

We have the ME1 - although when I say clip, it is a TARGA sequence.
