Using RS-422 protocol to control blackmagic devices

PostSun Nov 12, 2017 7:01 pm

Hi

I have Ultrastudio 4K and control it through thunderbolt. But can I use other interface to control it (at least "enable it" to start signal flow and conversions from inputs to outputs), for example RS-422? Or this port can work only as "output" to control decks? Can I use other than thunderbolt to control ultrastudio? It will be very useful for me because I want use PC (not mac) to do live and there is no actual PC's with thunderbolt 2.

Thank you

Hello Alexandr. The RS-422 port on the Ultrastudio is only for VTR Deck control. Other Blackmagic devices like Videohubs, Hyperdecks and ATEM switchers may use RS-422 for serial control.
