PC to ATEM Studio HD Remotely

PostMon Nov 13, 2017 12:42 am

Hi all -

I hope this is a new topic as I didn't find it in the forums. I'm trying to make a lean mobile set-up for video switching at events. I'd like to have the Studio Control software on my Microsoft Surface and the Studio HD in a nearby rolling rack. Do I have to get everything on the local wifi to do this? Do I have to put some sort of networking gear in my rack? Or is there an easier solution?

Thanks,
Nick

If you speak about ATEM TV Studio HD, we just bought one and I tried this. You don't need network switch or anything like that. I just installed the software, and connected my laptop with the ATEM by normal network (ethernet) cable using the LAN port of my laptop and the Control (natwork) port of the ATEM. Everything works fine if you set the IP adresses properly

My laptop is HP Probook 450, a bit older model running on Windows 7, so I guess you shoukd be fine. They say the control software is ok for different WIndows versions (after 7) and Mac.

1 critic note!! Most users are better off using a network switch. Not every laptop does auto MDI (MDI-X is auto cross) With most computers you will get a 1:1 network connection which will not work as you need a Cross connection.

So you were lucky that HP does support MDI-X on there Network controllers. ;)
