Blackmagic Assist creates a second file

Anyone know why the Assist starts another file around 2hrs. 7 mins on the same card instead of 1 large file? I've looked in the menu but can not see a way to turn it off unless it's in an update I don't have installed yet.

This is working as intended however, we can bring this up with the engineering team as a feature request.

Yes, in my experience, having a single, long continuous files on SD or SSDs is not the best way to go, to easy to get a corrupted file or transfer issues and loose the entire shoot.

I would like to have it be able to record 1 continuous file to cut back on any editing (even just marrying the 2 files together) before delivery to the client. I had another recorder that had the option to turn on file indexing or not, that would be a great add on.

i also like the function that makes a new file every 30 minutes or so..

Have had a few hyperdeck lockup now where you can not stop recording or recorder stopped and the whole file got corrupt..

The whole reason we don't gamble on 1 recorder anymore in a live event. Always have a different brand recorder at the side as backup.
