SDI compatibility issue with PTZ optics camera ?

Dears,
we just hooked up a SDI PTZoptics camera to our ATEM 1 M/E Production 4K.
https://ptzoptics.com/sdi/

if we connect directly in SDI we can have about any resolution working (changing both the camera & the switcher) except for 1080p50 & 1080p60.

If we use the HDMI output of the camera and use a BMD micro-converter to get SDI then it works perfectly.

The only thing I could notice is that the camera uses SMPTE 292M for lower resolution and SMPTE 424M for the 1080p50 & 1080p60.
The Atem is said to be compatible with both in the tech spec so it should not be an issue though.

Do you see anything else to solve this issue ?

Rgds,
Timothé

Change your mixer to 3G Level A (or B) depending on which mode it is configured now.

There are 2 3G sdi standards. 1080P50 59.94 & 60 fall under 3G-sdi.. 1080i is 1,5G standard which is just plain 1 standard. ;)

Hi,
We had actually tried to change it but it did not help.
Moreover In the atem French interface it actually says that this selection is for the output, so I m not sure it has any influence on the input. (except if it is a bad translation which is possible)
Could it be it always support both modes on input?

No it sets the whole mixer into mode A or mode B.
A mix between A and B is not possible on the atems as the structure of the packets is completely different.

Maybe there are also settings you have to do in the camera to get it into the right mode. Check the YouTube streams from the streamgeeks They had the PTZOptics running 2 weeks ago on an atem.

Hi,
just a note, I did not solve my problem yet, but in the meantime I checked the settings SDI A/B on the ATEM and I confirm it only influences the output.
My inputs will work equally fine (or not for the PTZ :-) ) whatever the setting.

I always run my PTZ Optics robo through a Decimator MD-HX to frame convert. Our ATEM 2 ME is usually running at 720p @ 59.94 and PTZ Optics cameras only support whole number frame rates.
1080p 60/50/30/25
1080i 60/50
720p 60/50

Thanks for the advice,
I have to admit that I can't really afford adding a decimator, (I do this in the scope of a church with very limited budget...)

FYI. Current ATEMs will accept either Level A or Level B on input at the same time. The Output may be selected to be Level A or Level B only. And as you have found, the SDI inputs must be 59.94/29.97 and not 30/60. The Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI does have a mode that will convert 1080p60 to 1080i59.94 that may be of interest.

FWIW, the original versions of the 1M/E and 2M/E switchers (pre 4k) WILL accept 30/60 on the SDI inputs
