Record to PC direct from ATEM TV Studio HD

PostMon Jan 15, 2018 4:32 pm

Hi,
we had a requirement to record video (from a Canon EOS camera sending live video through a HDMI cable) and PC presentations (also through a HDMI cable) so that we could compile a nice video going between presentation and the video stream from the camera. We purchase an ATEM Television Studio HD for this. We can connect both camera and PC feeds from HDMI to the ATEM and they work fine. We thought it would be a simple task to record the video from the ATEM box to a PC, but there does not seem a way to do this. If we plug the USB port from the ATEM to a PC, no drivers are found on the Windows 10 PC. If we then install Media Express, this does not see the ATEM either.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to record from the ATEM to a Windows PC (or MAC) without having to buy any additional AV hardware?
Thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris. There is no recording capabilities built into the ATEM Television Studio HD. You would need a capture device or something like the H.264 Pro Recorder to do this with the SDI program output of the ATEM. You can control the recording using Media Express in the ATEM software.
