ATEM 7.2 CCU working with MicroStudio on 4.7.1?

PostSun Jan 28, 2018 6:33 pm

In the last update for the MicroStudio Cameras (mid November 2017) BMD changed some things which they said in the release notes would require an ATEM update. It's more than two months later and it looks like that ATEM update never came. Can someone confirm if CCU control from an ATEM switcher running the latest firmware (7.2 from July 2017) would still work with MicroStudio cameras after updating them to 4.7.1.?
Basically asking, should I still wait before I update the MicroStudio cameras if I need the ATEM CCU to work?

This is the bit from the release notes of the 4.7 Camera update:
Added new gain setting range which now goes from -12dB to +12dB. ATEM will need a new software update to access these new ranges via Blackmagic SDI Control Protocol.

Thanks, Daniel

Atem software 7.2 CCU still displays 0db +6db +12db +18db.
So at this point you wont have -12db on the microstudio camera if controlled from CCU.

But because these settings don't apply to the Ursa cameras and bigger studio cams. I guess they are trying to make a software update for the Atem were you can configure what camera is behind the CCU.

I guess they are trying to include the Pan Tilt data too in some software implementation as it is now supported by the Microcameras and can be send by the SDI shield.. But the Atem does not support it right now.
Also the TVS HD Pro does not have Pan Tilt control at all at this moment. (Not over Visca cameras by the 422 port on the mixer).

So i do have a feeling these features will all trickle down in an update between now and 3 months.
But development takes time.. Testing takes even more time. Because users that update hardware and crash / kill there hardware after that is a very costly thing. So they rather test extensive instead of releasing too soon. ;)

Thanks for clarifying.
We shall see then.
I'm also wondering if they will present anything PTZ-ish at ISE Europe next week. Would be a good time and place for that :)

Cheers,

And some say BMD would not listen to it's users... :D
But a whole press event? That would not have been necessary :)
