System Freeze when Decklink 4k Extreme Drivers loaded

PostWed Jan 31, 2018 10:03 pm

We use the DeckLink 4k Extreme with ProPresenter 6 on Windows. The card operates perfectly and for many hours at a time when using it with ProPresenter (Key and Fill outputs are active). However, if the machine is idle for a multiple hours when the Decklink 4K Extreme drivers are loaded, it hangs. There is no BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), but the PC no longer accepts input and stops responding to pings. When in this state, the Decklink 4K Extreme continues to generate a static image and similarly, the graphics card shows a static image. The mouse/keyboard aren't functional in this state either.

I disabled the drivers this weekend after our church service and its been up for 72+ hours without hanging.

Configuration:

  • Window 10 (latest release)
  • 32GB RAM
  • i7 7700k (not overclocked)
  • Motherboard: ASRock Z270 TAICHI
  • Video: 720p 59.94 fps output connected to a BlackMagic 20x20 Video Hub
  • GTX 1060 Gigabyte (double fan)

I've run extended memory and processor stress tests and the machine doesn't crash under stress so I don't think its a RAM or i7 issue and its definitely not overheating. I looked at the Windows system log and don't see any events in there that would indicate a system problem.
