Tallies for CCU and monitor; preview tallies

This may be a basic question, but I’m unfamiliar with tally wiring and I don’t want to damage anything.

I have a number of SmartView Duo monitors and third-party CCUs. All devices support contact closure tallies. I would like to arrange to simultaneously tally a monitor and its camera via the CCU. My question is, can I wire the devices in series like this:

Tally interface GPO    -> CCU program -> SmartView Duo monitor red
Tally interface ground <- CCU ground  <- SmartView Duo ground


Or, is there a better and/or safer way to do it?

Also, we are considering the SKAARHOJ ETH-GPI-LINK in order to support preview tallies. For anyone who’s used it, is it reliable? I have experience with the Blackmagic GPI & Tally Interface and it was very stable once set up. I’m interested in whether the SKAARHOJ interface performs similarly.
