Two Camera Livestream

Hi! I'm looking for a solution of having two 4K cameras connected via HDMI to a computer running OBS for a live streaming situation.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Here's my thoughts, until someone more knowledgeable comes along.

Can you clarify that you want to stream in 4K?
Or are you cropping 4K footage in OBS for a 1080 stream? Or just doing 1080 but with 4K capable cameras?
If you don't need the 4K your options are easier.

2x DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K will work for a PC
2x Epiphan AV.io 4K will get your footage into OBS on a laptop.

BUT encoding a 4K stream on the fly will be quite a task for your PC.
I don't know what specs you'd need to reliably do that.

A large scale production that requires a 4K stream would normally be hardware all the way.
Can you add more details on the cameras and the gig?

Hey! Thanks for the reply!

The cameras would be either 2x C300 Mark II or 2x GH5S - we're still deciding.

I mentioned 4k streaming, but I'm not 100% sure we need that. It would be nice to have a downscale to 1080p option as well.

I'm mostly looking for a solution that can be portable and capable.

Is there anything that can send both signals into the PC at once and also function as a switcher? The less I have to fiddle with the software, the better.

I am working with BM web presenter to switch between 2 cameras.
one is HDMI one is SDI.
usb output to OBS @ 720p. Looks fine to me at 720.

Hey! I believe 720p is too small, as we're trying to future proof a little as well. Since we're doing most streams on YT, the 720p cap wouldn't apply.

Forget the C300, over,I’ll for live streaming. I would go with either two GH5S, if ligniting is an issue, or better yet, get two Micro Studio Cameras 4K, or if you want bigger cameras, two Ursa Broadcast cameras, and use a ATEM HD, with the camera’s downsizing their 4K signal to HD.

The advantage of the Broadcast and Studio cameras, is you can color match them quickly with the ATEM, and get a constant feed. Also these cameras use SDI to connect to the switcher, enabling longer cable runs, than you can use with HDMI cables.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply!

The studio micros wouldn't do for us, since the cameras would also be used for other things as well, not only streaming.

I believe the GH5S is the way to go then? With two recorders, is that it?

Any particular reason not to use the C300 Mark IIs?

Well, the Only thing the C300 has going for it is its auto focus, which works better than most, if AF is what you need/want. Otherwise, it is an overpriced Prosummer Camera starting at $9995.00, with an EF Mount, so you are stuck with Canon AF lenses for the auto focus to work at its best, and a good cine zoom is going to cost you $10 more, and you still have a high a high,y compressed, low bitrate internal recording codec, AvCHD/H.264, which will work for streaming, but not much else.

If you want this type of camera, for less money you could get 2-p BM Broadcast cameras, have better lens selection; or get Ursa Mini Pros, and have a camera that can run circles around a C300, or get the new Panasonic EVA1, if you have EF lenses, or like them; but at least the EVA1can be converted easily to a PL mount.

I think yiur choice to go with the GH5S is a good one for what you eant to do —but, It all depends on what you want/need.
