micro converters and heat

Hi,

How hot does the (HDMI to SDI) micro converters get?
Is it safe to glue a gopro mount to the top and/or bottom of one without causing any issues?

The Micro Converters seem to run pretty cool, so you'd probably be fine attaching something to the metal case. A GoPro will likely generate more heat than the converter.

I've used adhesive velcro to attach the Micro Converters to monitors and other things in the past without any problems.

Micro converter range run fairly cool, the mini converter range of products, they run toasty. :)

Why not? And while at it, I'd even try GoPro mounting onto it in a manner that does not significantly restrict air flow around the case -- or perhaps even employ a metal mounting device that further serves as a "heat exchanger" of sorts.

After all, where I reside, Summer is coming, and in higher ambient temps, perhaps even "Industrial Velcro" (robust, but fairly costly if purchased at the local big box hardware stores) might become mechanically unstable (and undesirably gooey).

The Micro converters are based on Semtech and Analog Devices chipsets that does not run hot.

For the Miniconverter series they use FPGA's that run hot.. ;)

Oh, OK, 'good to know. Thanks for making that heat dissipation distinction between MicroConverters (less heat) vs. MiniConverters (more heat) clear, Xtreemtec.
