B/W Cam Inputs on ATEM 2 M/E

PostWed May 30, 2018 12:56 am

Hey guys. Happy to join the Blackmagic community.

I'm configuring an ATEM 2 M/E for an upcoming tour and to take my camera inputs to B/W for a specific look in the production. The cameras I'm using are older Sony HDC broadcast cams and their CCUs are mismatched so I can't pull saturation and make a preset at that end.

It seems as though I can't manipulate any parameters under the camera control tab in the ATEM software. Are these controls reliant on BlackMagic cameras being controlled?

The rig I've been handed is running ATEM software version 7.0.2. If I upgrade to 7.4, will I also need to update the firmware on the hardware?

Sorry for the rudimentary questions. I've never had my hands on one of these and I've been put in a situation where I have very little time for preparation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

You could mix in m/e 2 and create a lumakey in m/e 1 with white fill and m/e 2 as key

The camera control is ONLY for the Blackmagic cameras.. And wont affect any other camera..

Why not put a Teranex behind the mixer.. With that teranex you can do a full color match.. Or pull all colors out if you want.. ;)

The teranex can't make the image completely b&w as far as I remember

That is an interesting question so I had to look. On the Teranex AV you can drop the saturation quite a bit but not all the way. But in the same menu settings there are adjustments for R-Y and B-Y which you can drop completely making a monochrome signal at the output. Hope this helps.
