HyperDeck Update 6.0

PostMon Jun 04, 2018 12:27 am

So all this wait for H.264 recording on the HDmini....it only records "P" formats, and says "Unsuitable Codec" when trying to record an "I" format. You know, like 1080i59.94....*THE* HD broadcast format here....

VERY DISAPPOINTING...

Are you serious?? I ordered a Hyperdeck mini the moment they told H264 was coming.. Finally a backup recorder without they high amount of data storage..

I will install the update tonight to see what is happening..

EDIT::
H.264 codec for all 720p and 1080p display modes

I'm not sure if i'm should be more worried about this.. Reading between the lines like you need to with marketing by BMD. I interper this like 720P 1080P only for playback.. (display modes... Not recording modes..)

Can anyone confirm that you can record at 1080p 60fps in H.264?

Don't see that mentioned in the user manual as it only goes up to 30fps?

The manual only lists the following video formats for H.264 recording: 1080p60, 1080p50, 1080p30, 1080p25, 1080p24, 720p60, 720p50.

I can kind of understand that if the files are intended for playback on a computer or uploading on the web, you might want to record in a progressive format. But in that case the unit should de-interlace 1080i50/60 to 1080p25/30 for recording.

The H.264 Pro Recorder had options for recording a native (interlaced) signal, or de-interlacing and recording a progressive signal.

Tryed to record the Signal of a SONY HDW-650P set to 25Psf
Unfortunately the Flag on the HDSDI Interface is showing 1080 i50.
So, even when the content in the channel is correct (progressive) the hyperdeck mini is not recording.

Warning might be o.k. but when i hit record, i want the box to record the signal to the card and let the user decide if it is useful or not ;-)

kind regardes, Mike

Tried 720p and the recorder blinks the red light in the record button and the file is not usable after this point. In ProRes no problem.
Bought two units waiting for H264 recording... Same problem in both units.
No interlaced, not working H264 recording...
This is why a lot of people is suspicious about BlackMagic announcement and delivery.
