Studio Production Timer?

PostMon Jun 04, 2018 8:09 pm

Hello everyone,

We need an inexpensive studio production timer that works well with our "Atem television studio pro hd"

What do you use or how can we display the time to allow us to know when to stop for commercials?
We record and should stop every 13 minutes but have no way to tell when the 13 minutes are up. Having someone tell us doesnt help much since we are always off on the cut time.

How can our recording talent see the timecode to know when they should stop?

Or is there a way to export using the "Atem television studio pro hd" aux to a monitor a display the timecode? Third party hardware/software that can achieve this?

Thank you.

Invest in a cheap stopwatch or timer on your phone that will count down
Sometimes it is better to go old school
It is simple and easy

I used a iOS stop watch program on an IPad Mini, that would countdown down reverse p, from 15min for example to 0, at 1- min, 30-Sec in had the floor manager give thr talent a cue and again ate dinner to cut.
This is how most live TV shows were done also, thr floor director tracks the time, and cues thr control room and the talent.

Connect a Raspberry Pi (or similar) to any HDMI input. Connect buttons to the GPIOs and write a little python script to draw your timer, countdown etc. on display. Done.
You can show it on Multiviewer or route it to AUX output to show it on other displays.
