SDI to HDMI 4K

PostFri Apr 26, 2013 9:00 pm

Hi,

Anyone using successfully the new 'SDI to HDMI 4K' converter ?
I cannot get it to output 4K at all (tried various formats and framerates).
I send 4 HDSDI signal through a BlackMagic SDI switch and preview monitors, and it's all good (either from a 4K JPEG2000 codec, or repeating 4 HD signals).
When I send the signal to the converter, the 4K monitor (Seiki SE50UY04) freaks out.
The monitor works fine with a computer at 3840x2160 at 30,25, and 24p over HDMI.

Same problem with 4k hdmi from Decklink 4k extreme. I think BM has not done very much testing with 4k over hdmi, I the timings they are using are not correct.

I've gotten 4K hdmi from Decklink and from converter to work, on sets from Sharp and Sony. If I had to take a guess, I'd say it's probably the $1300 "4K TV" that's the issue.
