updowncross converter

PostTue Apr 30, 2013 2:52 pm

Hello,

I would like to connect my atem 1/me to a video conference system ( http://www.radvision.com/Products/Video ... ms/XT1200/ ). My Atem and my cameras work in 1080i/50, as I want to work in full HD.

The video conference system inputs are :
1920 x 1080 @ 25, 30fps
1280 x 720 @ 25, 30, 50, 60fps
720 x 576 @ 50fps
720 x 480 @ 60fps
640 x 480 @ 60fps
The video conference system outputs are :
1920 x 1080 @ 25, 30fps
1280 x 720 @ 25, 30, 50, 60fps

The documentation does not talk about interlaced or progressive, but I tested and could only get progressive signals in and out of this box...

So I have to use two scalers. Can the blackmagic updowncross converter achieve those conversions :
(ATEM SDI)1080i50 > (VISIO HDMI)1080p25
(VISIO HDMI)1080p25 > (ATEM SDI)1080i50

I will post soon this conference hall setup, when everything will be OK :)

thanx !

Not 100% sure.

According to tech specs for the converter, the supported formats are: 625/25 PAL, 525/29.97 NTSC, 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080PsF23.98, 1080PsF24, 1080PsF25, 1080i50, 1080i59.94, 1080i60.

Know there are other brands out there, (and probably cheaper) but maybe look at a teranex. It's supported formats are: 720p50, 720p59.94, 1080PsF23.98, 1080p23.98, 1080PsF24, 1080p24, 1080PsF25, 1080p25, 1080PsF29.97, 1080p29.97, 1080i50, 1080p50, 1080i59.94 and 1080p59.94.

It may just be bad marketing on their part but I'm 99% sure your 1080i50 signal will work just fine on your video conference system. (We have connected to both Polycom and LifeSize this way).

Technically a 1080i50 signal is 25 frames per second. I would just give it a try.

Well, I already tried that. at 1080i50, the video conference system shows a "no input" logo. But if I change the atem to 720p50, it works fine...

Yes, 1080i50 is 25 frames per second, but interlaced. And the documentations are not clear about what inputs/outputs are accepted, and more with those non-broadcast gears.

I have no other solutions excepted a "try and error" method with different scalers... :|
