Keeping Video and Audio Sync'd With Audio to SDI Converter?

PostWed Jul 18, 2018 6:19 pm

I'm thinking through a possible workflow and fairly new to all of this, so hopefully this is an easy question for someone to answer!

I'm looking at using a BMD Audio to SDI converter to embed audio into a video which will be displaying live locally. What I'm wondering is how exactly the audio and video would stay in sync, or if there is anything I would need to do to ensure that they do stay in sync.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but better safe than sorry! The mic would be hooked up to a mixer which would then output to the audio to SDI converter along with the video directly from the camera.

The audio and video are always in sync but may be offset due to vision latency.

I do a very similar thing to what you want and include audio into channels 3+4.
I feed the output of my audio desk into a digital delay unit and then into a audio to SDI converter.
I then set the delay accordingly (usually 40mS).

cam audio -> fiber -> audio -> mixer main -> audio delay-> aud to sdi 1 + 2
