16:10 from Decklink

PostMon Aug 06, 2018 1:39 pm

Hello!

I am running ProVideoPlayer to 4 separate projectors through a Decklink Quad 2 in a Sonnet Box. We have two projectors as our "center screen" that are "edge-blended" to make one ultra wide screen, originally intended to be 3600x1200 (the screen was custom built to be 16:10). We used a Matrox dualhead2go originally, and that got us the resolution, but when we moved to the BM card, we're capped at 1080 vertical.

My Question: would a DeckLink 8k Pro allow me to send 1920x1200 (16:10)? Our projectors are capable of a max 1920x1200, so I know an 8K card sounds like overkill, but if I can manage the correct vertical res and ratio, I'd be happy.

I would also like to know if 16:10 is possible with any of the decklink products? We are using the Quad2 to output to multiple projectors. Worse case I can squash the 16:10 to 16:9 and stretch it to 16:10 on the projector but I hate to lose resolution or cause possible distortion in text as a result.

As far as I know the DeckLink cards only support standard broadcast aspect ratios 4:3 (for SD), 16:9 (for HD or UHD) and 19:10 (for DCI 2K or 4K). I don't think they support any resolutions other than the ones listed on the product page for each card.
