TVS wish PiP and Chroma keying

PostWed Aug 15, 2018 8:23 am

Dear readers,

For my BM Television studio HD, I am looking for a solution. If it is not possible in the ATEM I would also appreciate other advice and / or tips.

I use a split screen (Picture in picture) to use two cameras at the same time. I also want to include a scoring center in the image. This scoring center is a web page that I have connected to ATEM by means of a Laptop and HDMI.

For the PiP I use the Upstream key1 and for the scoreboard Downstream key 1. With this I can make the background disappear nicely which in itself works well only I can not use black. This makes the colors and fonts in the scoring center very dull.

How can I (possibly with hardware) simultaneously use the BM Television Studio HD PiP and Chroma keying (or by Downstream key) so that I can normally use the color black in the scoring center?

How can I achieve this wish?

Final goal:

If the scoring center image can be made to fit a square or rectangle, you could easily use a white on black still as a cut out in the downstream keyer. In fact, even if the score board has an irregular shape but does not move, you could make a still graphic white on black to use as a key source. This will let you use the full image.

Hi Gary,

The scoreboard is not a image but a PHP webpage. The scorecenter is on a color background that i can set any color i want. The scorebord is multi color and most of the time one size. Only when i switch on the game average then the scoreboard has a bigger size because then a extra panel is visible.

I can post a YouTube link with a video including the scorebord. Let me know.

Below some pictures.

Hello Baz. So maybe there are two sizes of cutout. Make a graphic white on black the same size as those cutouts. Use that graphic for the key and the image as the fill in the DSK. If you don't need to move it or size it that's all you need. This way you get the full color of the image.

Hi Gary,

I have tested the solution and it works very well.
Thanks for the advice!

I made now some Macro's to change the 'background' image to show the panels.
Works fine
