Noise on ATEM Production Studio 4K XLR Outputs

PostThu Aug 30, 2018 2:11 pm

We run all our audio through a Midas mixer. When hooking the ATEM up to it through the XLR output, we always have a noise going through the system. When audio is played (either videos or camera microphones) the hiss is not noticeable, but if nothing is played, the hiss is there and the channel on the mixer shows a signal.

Anybody have thoughts? Is this a Line/Mic issue? It's driving my Audio guys crazy.

I guess you already played with in and output levels...
So maybe some weird ground loop? Have you tryed with a ground loop isolator in between?

Might be a compressor on your Midas set to bring levels up, which is not gaining as much when you have a decent signal. Would start by connecting the output of your sound mixer directly to a speaker and doing some tests.
