Blackmagic Design ATEM Pro 4K

PostSun Sep 16, 2018 7:16 pm

Hello,

I am new to this forum - and looking to gather more information and actual experiences from those who own a Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K Live Production Switcher.

The console appears impressive - especially at the price point.
Teranex and Fairlight were great acquisitions.

I am wondering about the (8) SDI outputs. I read through the online (massive) manual, yet it covers all the switchers, so therein can be some confusion.

1) Are the SDI outputs configurable on this model? As in, are there any AUX outs or way to get clean feeds?

2) If so, can these ouptuts be turned from 12G to 3G?

3) Can the PGM output be dialed to output 1080i instead of 12G?

4) Fan noise? What is the deal when switching 4K? Other BM gear has really suffered from fan noise.
Does it roar or remain reasonably quiet?

Thanks in advance!

1. SDI outs are fixed program outputs and not reconfigurable. 1 aux output is available which can be set for a clean feed.

2. AFAIK, the outputs are not scalable, it's only a function on the inputs. You set the needed output and the scalers take the various input feeds and convert to the needed output, which is then used throughout.

3. As answered above.
