Blackmagic Web Presenter issue

PostSun Oct 28, 2018 9:19 pm

I have a blackmagic web presenter we use at church to live stream.

The issue is when the box is on there is a high frequncy noice present in the audio.

Occurrs even when nothing is plugged into the box and it is just plugged into the computer.

The level under recording devices tab is set to 100.

The noise sounds like a digital noise.

Is the box defective or is there a grounding problem or is there an issue with gain structure?

I send audio into my camera then HDMI to the web presenter.
There are several audio settings in the menu to turn off unused ports.

Far as I know all unused ports are turned off.

Did a test Sunday with nothing connected to the blackmagic box and it only connected to the computer. Noise was still there.

Sounds to me like it is a digital noise.

Have you tried with a different USB cable and also to a different USB port to see if the issue is connected to the unit or those possible connections? Even testing to a different computer could help establish if its a Web Presenter issue or not.

Haven't tried that far as I know.

The youth pastor spent two hours over the phone with the guy who installed the new sound system trying to tweak an issue of poor audio quality when streaming live (its an internet speed issue) and after that the noise was there.

I cna reduce the mic gain in Windows to 70 and make the noise go away, but the person over the whole media ministry doesn't want to do a bandaid like that.

It's not an actual bandaid as it is just adjusting the gain structure, but he sees it as a bandaid and there's no convincing him otherwise.

Thing is not every audio device is going to be dead silent on its audio output. Take most any audio device and feed it into an input with enough gain and you will get some sort of noise if the gain structure is wrong.
