Decklink SDI Output for broadcast

We recently switched from transmitting in analog to our transmitter to using SDI to our encoder. Picture quality is great and the difference is really obvious. We use Playbox Airbox for playout. One problem is how to control the audio with the SDI being embedded and all. How do you guys do it? Is there an equalization option somewhere? Do I need to seperate the signal and pass it thru a compressor/limiter?
