Is the "SDI Distribution 4K" D/A supposed to be 3G-A compatible?

I know a lot of the older BMD products were only 3G-B but it seems like they are moving towards 3G-A functionality with most of the newer products.

The "SDI Distribution 4K" is marketed as a 6G device so I assumed would easily handle either flavor of 3G but it's not working here on my end.

Today's dilemma involves:

[SDI/HDMI Micro Bidirectional Converter] --> [SDI to HDMI Micro Converter] *works*

[SDI/HDMI Micro Bidirectional Converter] --> [SDI Distribution 4K] --> [SDI to HDMI Micro Converter] *doesn't work*

I've tried it with two different "SDI Distribution 4K" D/A's and neither of them work with 3G-A. I guess that's my answer but I wanted to ask in case there was something I was missing. There's no USB port to upgrade firmware, either.

Yes, the Mini Converter SDI Distribution 4K supports 3G SDI Level A as of firmware 7.0.9:

The USB port for firmware updates on this model is only accessible internally, so you have to remove the cover on the unit as described on page 10 of the manual:
