HDMI from laptop into TVS

PostMon Jun 03, 2013 8:53 am

Im using a TVS with three XA-10 cameras and im streaming sports live.
Whats the best way to get pre-recorded video into the TVS ?

My TVS doesnt take the HDMI out from my laptop.

Do I NEED to buy a hdmi to SDI converter ?

Any suggestions would be nice.

Im also trying to get a live match/gameclock working but i failed so far.

The resolution of laptops HDMI-out must match exactly to ATEMs resolution. (It makes no differece between HDMI and to SDI converted HDMI) So try to find the settings in your graphics card driver.

For match/gameclock take a look to CasparCG and its forum. www.casparcg.com . In the forum you will find a lot of suggestions on sport graphics.

Thanks for quick answers ! :)
Checking it up right now :)

Ive read thru the caspar info but im still not sure what i need.

With the Atem TVS i use one xeonbased computer for coding and streaming (livestreams software - live producer)
I controll the TVS with 2 laptops - one for the ATEM software controll and one for Photoshop for uploading graphics to the TVS mediaplayer 1 and 2.

What would i need more to get live graphics to work ? Another laptop with caspar software only ?

The usage of caspar depends first on your needs. When you stream a sports like football (soccer) - less changes of the result - , you can stay at your photoshop solution.

For sports with fast changes (Volleyball, Baskeball...) you could use caspar.

When using Caspar, I think you don't need photoshop while streamning. In this case, you can try, if caspar runs on this notebook. The software itself is freeware, so you'll only invest your time. If you want to create your own templates, I think you need flash, but I am not yet so far...

The first experiences of success you have on the first evening, after trying coding examples from the forum.

Here some tread to this theme. Maybe me experimets (without Caspar) are interesting for you...

Maybe take a look to the following threads.

The last gives some qick and dirty alternatives ....
