Hyperdeck Studio switching fps

PostFri May 31, 2019 7:39 pm

Hello,

I'm having a difficult time understanding why when I change my fps from 59.94i to 59.94p I'm not getting any response from my Hyperdeck studio. I have it connected to an ATEM Television Pro which works fine in 59.94i no cable issues, no recording issues or latency. When I switch over to progressive mode the Hypeerdeck will not show any input nor record. I have tried shutting down and restarting the Hyperdeck and reformatting the ssd's with no luck.

I'm running the latest Hyperdeck update.

The reason for switching is that a streaming software ( vmix ) explains that using 59.94p will help with latency issues within the software. When using interlaced fps there is 4-5 frame latency.

How can I get the Hyperdeck studio to see and switch to progressive fps?

Thank you

You do not setup the recording input resolution in the Hyperdeck, it automatically switches to the correct resolution setting based on the signal being received. That said, the SDI input on the Studio model only supports 1.5G or 3G signal. This means you are limited to HD progressive signals from 1080p24 to 1090p30, (see below), no UHD signal support.

Hyperdeck Studio recording resolutions:
HD Progressive Video Standards
720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60
1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30

So if you are trying to input a 1080p59.94 signal, it is not going to work, as this requires a 6G SDI input.
Try setting the ATEM to 1080p29.97, that should work, as is the same frame rate as 1080i59.94 (which is actually 29.97fps).

To record 1080p59.94/60, you need to upgrade to a HyperDeck Studio 12G recorder. ;)

Hello Denny,

Thank you for responding.
Here is the problem with going 29.97p.

This is from Vmix:

The latency can also potentially be halved by using double the frame rate from both the cameras and vMix (59.94p/50p instead of 29.97p/25p).
Note that the frame rate must be progressive (p) to take advantage of this latency improvement. Interlaced sources (59.94i/50i) have the same latency
in vMix as 29.97p/25p.

This was my reason as to why I wanted to use 59.94p.
I think my optionis going to use a Decimator to cross convert as I have just purchased my Hyperdeck to supplement for the
lack of an HDMI on the ATEM Televison Pro.
