Multiview 4 Output Rate?!?!?!

PostSat Jun 15, 2019 1:59 am

WHYYYYYYY...... :?

Why does the output of the Multiview 4 go from 1080i to 2160p30 and skip 3G outputs?!?!?!?! Really Blackmagic?

I agree, it's bad, a reason to use the decimator alternatives...they don't offer 4K (6G) but at least 3G. I fix would be nice, but probably it's a hardware restriction?

If you don't need 4K support, the MultiView 4 HD has a 3G output option. It's less expensive than the MultiView 4 as well, although it doesn't include the loop through SDI outputs for each of the input sources.

+1 on 3G not available being annoying. Also weird: Only the SDI output can be switched to 1080i50, the HDMI output is always 2160p25 or 2160p30.

Unfortunately the Multiview HD doesn't have a network interface, so you can't control it. We use the Multiview 4 for the preview monitor of our PTZ camera operators (a Skaarhoj device uses the GPO/Tally output of the PTZ controller and lets us switch the multiview between 2x2 and fullscreen and also "follow" the camera selection on the PTZ controller to show the selected camera in full screen).

The decimator Multiviews have a GPIO interface too (RJ45 plug) and a similar setup works, however the decimators are very slow when you switch between sources in full screen (several frames of black) and the multiview being HD only is a disadvantage (bc. we want the camera operators to be able to judge also in 2x2 multiview mode if each camera is in focus).

Cheers, Daniel
