Help with Live Stream + FME

PostTue Jun 25, 2013 2:44 am

Hi

I'm using a Blackmagic Extreme --> thunderbolt --> iMAC + Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2

I am streaming to AWS

When I stream just video or audio it runs flawlessly - however everytime I enable to stream video and audio at the same time within 2-3 minutes it crashes, and resets.

If I select internal webcam/mic and stream both audio/video there are no issues - only through the BlackMagic Extreme. I even tried using BlackMagic as the video input, and internal mic for audio - it didn't work.

I have an event coming up this weekend which I need to stream any help would be greatly appreciated. Whether it's settings or additional equipment I may require.

Thank You

Sorry... not the help you are looking for.. but... I would recommend trying some other streaming software just for a "sanity check".

Not all that familiar with all streaming solutions for Mac but I know you can install Wirecast in a demo mode. At least you will see if you can successfully stream audio+video with another solution. If it works... then the issue is most likely with FMLE... if it doesn't... it's something with the BMD Extreme.

Other thing... have you tried capturing the output using Media Express (be sure to select MJPEG rather than uncompressed unless you have very fast capture drives)? Again... if it captures flawlessly... it will point to the main culprit being FMLE

I have had the same problem, only with a UltraStudio Express -> Thunderbolt -> MacBook Pro Retina -> Flash Media Encoder 3.2/3.3. Stream crash after one minute, but this is only a problem with BMD. My solution was switching to Wirecast (its expensive, but it works!).

Try using another encoder instead, OBS, FFsplit for example. It might be that FME is buggy!

I had used ultrastudio express on mac mini and fmle too.. This was not works. So i was installed windows on mac mini, and fmle works.. But there was some problems too.. So iwas bought wirecast.. It works, but its unacceptable quality with wirecast.. So iwas swotched to linux and decklink and free encoders .. And its really best quality i have got ..

Exactly correct... although to be honest I have only ever heard this from you (about 457 times I think).

In fact... to save you time posting that... I would recommend you add something to your signature. e.g.

Wirecast is awesome piece od software, working pretty good, fast, with many many options, but the price for Pro version is what really sucks, thats why I went to vMix+OBS.
But as I sakd, I think this isnt related to streaming software, its related to encoder problem, thats why I suggested OBS or FFsplit or any other instead of FMLE ;)

As I wroted more times .. Wirecast is $500 sended to WC for me .. It produce jerky video, totaly unacceptable for me .. i was talked with tech support .. I was sended all infos , files to them .. no sollution for half year .. wirecast is very unstable for me .. hanging everytime , when U changing settings .. on windows and on osx too .. and not send more than 30 fps .. Wirecast have lot of features, what I do not need .. switching more inputs , live graphics , etc etc .. I have echolab atem for this .. i need just good quality streamer .. and for this is wirecast not usable for me ..
