Problem with Bidirectional Micro Converter

PostMon Sep 09, 2019 2:44 pm

Hi everybody,
recently my company purchased some Bidirectional Micro Converters.
I am encountering an issue in converting from HDMI to SDI the signal from a Sony AX53 (in FHD mode).
Problem is that using a Magewell Capture Card and vMix, the audio is missing in 1080i mode.
If I try to change the camera mode to 1080p, the audio comes back but the picture of the camera is green, with lines and of course unusable.
Tried installing the 7.3.3 app from website but it does not prompt any firmware update (converter is recognized by windows 10).
Tried changing from the app from 3g level A to B. Pictures are ok in 1080p but audio is missing.
Tried also a Panasonic SD80 and Sony PJ810 and the same occurs.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
This is really frustrating (cannot use any converter) and hope to solve asap.

Have you tried a different model converter to see if the converter is the problem?

The bi-directional are running on a FPGA, while the Micro HDMI to SDI is dedicated hardware that is used in many HDMI > SDI converters around the world. ;) It might work much better for you.

Also it is very hard to vind out where your problem is located. As you use Magwell capturecards, BMD converters, etc.. Might be a config mismatch.. hard to tell without sending a different SDI source in like a Deciamtor MD-Cross or something. ;)

Hi,
problem is located definitely in the bidirectional converter.
Using a normal HDMI to SDI converter (Blackmagic) the issue is not encountered.
