Setup tips for lower-sized video recording

PostMon Sep 16, 2019 7:02 pm

Hello everyone,
I shoot a Multi Camera wedding and I use Blackmagic products.
I'd like a few tips from you guys. I need to keep videos for a long time, so it's important for me to have low-sized videos.
I'm connecting 3 cameras to the atem switcher.
The cameras record themselves, but I also record the video in the switcher with a hyperdeck (because it's easier to edit later) The problem is that the hyperdeck saves in the Prores format, for example the prores Lt 100mb / s bitrate is a really big file.
The camera itself records 1080p 50i avchd at 16 mb/s.
I tried the "ProRes proxy" format (50mb / s bitrate) this time the video was poor quality compared to the original camera image. What I am looking for is: Can record lower-sized video without losing camera quality (for Live Edit version)? which equipment do ı need?

The new Hyperdeck Mini records a h.264 codec, which will give you smaller files, but the image is more compressed and not as good for editing as the ProRes files.
