automatic save project

Bonjour

I work on long projects in 1920x1080 50i. Timelines for about 90 min (over 1000 shots).
Automatic backups are very long. More than 1 minute minimum wait doing nothing.
Is there a way to optimize this operation?

RAM: 16 GB

Turn off auto-backup and do it manually. For some bizarre reason it's faster. I save every time I do an operation that I would regret losing in a crash.

I still think saving (and autosave) should happen in the background. Photoshop CS6 finally did it and the difference it makes to usability is huge (especially with large files)!

I'm sorry but the manual backup takes exactly the same time as the autosave.
I did experiment with a stopwatch.

The difference is the manual save happens when you want it to, like when you go out for a smoke, coffee etc

No, but seriously, I find it unacceptable. Especially since we can not do anything during this time. This is a function to improve frankly.

It can take a while, I think having fast IO plays a lot into this .

But I would highly recommend having autosave enabled no matter what . I recently found out the hard way that it isn't enabled by default and I lost 2 hours of work, while a client was sat beside me, when Resolve completely froze up trying to import a media file - I didn't save manually often enough because I presumed autosave would kick in, I merely didn't recall seeing it . Embarrassing isn't the word !

Agree with scratchpostvfx, I prefer to let the automatic backups in case 9 resolve quits unexpectedly.
This happens very rarely compared to version 8.
With version 8 resolve the sauvergardes were set to 5 minutes.
With version 9 of resolve, I spent 20 minutes with a forced break 1'20 "approx.

I have a 512GB SSD and the difference in operation for everything BUT Resolve is stunning! I don't understand why???? I am using a disk database and I know it is pointed to the SSD which is less than half full. The timer for auto save counts down with in 10sec and then I get the beach ball for another 40 to 50 sec. I know one solution is breaking down the project but this is not ideal (1300 shots.) Any ideas BM / Group???

do you have "save thumbnails from timeline" selected in general options?

does this make an impact on how long Resolve takes to save ?

I've found. I installed version 8.
I uninstalled manually.
In the folder / application / Resolve
In the folder / application / PostgreSQL 8.4
In the folder / library / application support / Blackmagic Design / DaVinci Resolve
In the folder / library / preferences / Blackmagic Design
In the folder / library / PostgreSQL
In the folder / users / library / preferences / com.blackmagic-design.davinci.Resolve. plist

I installed the version 9, and since the automatic saving is of the order of ten seconds.
Whatever support the database (disk or SSD), and the duration of the project.

I had this problem on several computers with the installed version 8 to version 9 upgrade,
until the day I installed version 9 directly on a new computer.
