Can you share a little bit more on the lights you're using?
Sure. We're working in VERY tight spaces, probably tighter than it looks in the grabs. I'm using a couple of 1Ks as either a key or an edge. I'm also using various 2-bank Flolights as fill or soft keys and both daylight and tungsten bulbs we can swap out for color temp changes. That's it.
A lot of the lighting setups are either 1 light or 2 lights, and a very faint 3rd light (if needed) to create a glint in the eyes. For the glint, it usually is a 2-bank Flolight with one of the barn doors closed.
Example lighting setup:
The bedroom stuff is 3 lights. A 2-bank Flolight directly in front of them at the bottom foot of the bed by the closets, which you can see in the BTS photos. This was aimed up & bounced off diffusion (which is angled down) to give it a soft front fill. We then have a 1K blasting through the bedroom window screen left to illuminate the girl (mini Salma Hayek!). This was "flagged" on both sides by the curtains to create a sliver of light that illuminated the girl. There's also another Flolight (screen right) all the way back up against the wall (in the corner) to create an edge for the girl and the guy to simulate another lamp in the room.
The scene with the 2 guys with the guns is one 1K overhead and a 2-Bank Flolight low down in front to create the glint in their eyes.
No HMIs, as unfortunately we couldn't get them for this project, but I really wanted them... and a hazer.... maybe next time.
