Newbie question on Decklink Quad

PostSat Dec 08, 2012 12:14 am

I have 4 incoming 1080p 24p HDMI sources that I need to feed into the Decklink Quad so I can use a broadcasting application like VidBlaster.

First Question.. Will the following HDMI to SDI converter work?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-to-HD-SDI-converter-box-/160887581990?pt=US_Surveillance_Accessories&hash=item2575a5ad26

Second Question.. What type of cables do I need to interconnect this HDMI / SDI converter to the Decklink Quad?

Thanks so much for your help..

Hello William,

We have not had a chance to test with this HDMI to SDI converter. Assuming that the video source you are sending to the converter is not flagged with HDCP (copyright protection) and that the converter can convert the signal to SDI and the SDI out is a supported resolution and frame rate (1080p 24 is supported), the DeckLink Quad should be able to pick this signal up just fine.

For the SDI cable to the DeckLInk Quad, you will want to look up Mini Din cables from a broadcast store. The spec for these Mini Din cables are 1.0/2.3.

Hope this helps!

Hi thanks for getting back to me.

However the information about the cable to use is still unclear to me. When you say mini din cable the following cable pops up on Google.

http://www.cablesondemand.com/pcategory ... CABLES.htm

This doesn't look like what I need. Can you please post a link to the proper cable that I need?

Thanks,

William

Try this link (note: this is just an educated guess... I don't use these cables)

There was a whole selection of cables on that link you provided but perhaps you meant this cable should be used?
