different performance on edit and color pages

PostThu Jun 16, 2016 2:17 am

Hi all !

Please help - why different performance video playback on edit and on color page?
On color page - realtime, on edit page - jerkily (
And with optimized media too...
Where it is possible to adjust? For edit video in Resolve, not interchange XML with edit program like FCPX.

Best regards, Pavel

I have the reverse -- Edit page 23.976fps and on the Color page about 15fps.

On the edit page make sure that your audio waveforms are turned off. The waveforms seem to tax the system.

I find myself in the same situation.

Mac Pro 5,1 running Mac OSX 10.11.5 2.24 GHz Quad with 32 GB memory
Cubix enclosure with 2x Titan Black + 1x 980Ti each 6 GB VRAM total 18 GB

Decklink 4K Extreme Desktop Utility 10.6.6 running in Dual Link

CUDA 7.5.30

nVidia Web Driver 346.03.10f02

Media is 4096x2160 DCI 23.976 DNxHR HQX (12-bit) being fed from a 4-lane fibre optic RAID.
Which is irrelevant, because:

I get 23.98 in the Edit page - audio plays smoothly.

But in the Color page: 1 default no-correction node, plays back at 13.5 fps. Audio obviously chopping all over the place.

Doesn't matter what I select or de-select, curves, windows, qualifiers.... nada.. audio ON, Audio OFF... nope.

- i do see 23.98 playback in the colorpage if i switch the ui to display the lightbox with color tools

Tried that and I still get reduced playback framerate -- may be marginally somewhere around 14-15 fps, but not significant.

What I do observe is that changing the video monitoring and output scaling to HD from 4K DCI or 3840 UHD restores the 23.98 fps playback on the Color page, so this is starting to feel like it is a Decklink output handoff issue.

Just make sure your output res (normally defaults to timeline res) matches your video monitoring res. I suspect that is not set to match.

No, all monitoring and scaling is set to match 4K DCI 23.98p. Assuming that means 4096x2160.

Thought it might have something to do maybe with imbedded versus system audio, but nope. Not that , either.

Mismatching the output settings to HD makes it work, (plays back at 23.98) but I had been hoping to see the image in its native format.
