Does the BM video Assist work with Arri Alexa

PostMon Jul 18, 2016 7:05 pm

Has anyone tried the BM video Assist with an Arri Alexa? I did a shoot last week using the Arri alexa but couldn't use my Video Assist (1080p) with it.

Should work. However, the VA can only accept a video signal up to UHD resolution, 4.2.2, 10-bit, which it will down convert to HD

for display and recording. If you are trying to use a full 4K signal, and/or have a Frame rate greater than 60fps, then this is not going to work.

The Video Devices PixE will accept higher resolution (full 4K) 12-bit 4.4.4 video signals, record the set resolution and display it. If yiu need the signal down converted to HD from a 4K signal, that a up/down Converter is going to be needed, and Atomos is re-releasing their small Convert It up/down again, which will replace a NP battery on the PixE.
Cheers

I only used it for monitoring purposes but the Video Assist worked fine via ARRI Alexa for me. I have the 4K BMVA but I can't imagine that would make a difference. Were you trying any high speed formats?

I've used it many times. It works fine.
