Relinking to a different file extension in 12.5?

PostFri Aug 12, 2016 12:50 am

Hey Guys,

I'm bouncing a project from a Mac Resolve over to a Linux resolve and found that .MP4's are not viewable on a Linux system. I've transcoded the material as .mov's and wanted to know if there is any way to re-link a projects media to a DIFFERENT type of file extension.

Things I've already tried that haven't worked.

1. Simply changing the source folder on the media page.
2. The new re-link option on the media page.

Am I missing something?

You could export an XML from the timeline on the first system, bring the XML into the second system, then point the XML towards the new clips as it builds the new timeline. Once the timeline is recreated, use ColorTrace to add the color corrections to the new timeline. This "theoretically" will work, though -- having just had this get a little rocky a few weeks ago -- I would advise you to check the material thoroughly to make sure there are no surprises in the color corrections.
