Asus G751 win10 laptop and UltraStudio Mini

Can anyone tell me if the thunderbolt port on the Win10 Asus G751 laptop can be used with a Black Magic Mini? I want to stream from a 4K camcorder (clean HDMI out) through the mini to the G751 thunderbolt port. It looks like the software will see it but, I'd like to check before I spend the cash on the mini. The Thunderbolt connection shouldn't be the issue but the format output from the camera would be if you're going with the Mini (Recorder I'm assuming in this case). You'll want to verify the actual output of the camera to the formats listed on the tech spec page of the product.
