Web Presenter USB Bit Rate

PostTue Apr 18, 2017 7:27 pm

I am using the Web Presenter but I am not confident I am getting a high enough bit rate out of the USB port. Even at 30fps movement is not fluid. I am using a Canon G40 with 8Mbps 1080p output, SDI to Web Presenter and USB to MBP and OBS encoder.

Can anyone tell me what bit rate the Web Presenter is outputting on the USB port? Is Web Presenter downgrading the bit rate?

With this said I am thinking about switching to the Mini Recorder to insure the full bit rate gets to OBS.

Any suggestions?

The Web Presenter outputs a 720p signal,in a variable frame rate to control the bit rate to match the streaming application available band width. So if the frame rate drops too low, the video will look "jumpy".

I am using OBS classic on a 2017 Macbook Pro with 5Mbps upstream BW. Only using about 16% of processor at 30fps. Video still seems jumpy.

I certainly would like to know this information too. It seems like the web presenter should be able to send it's full 720P/30FPS signal to OBS and let the user set up OBS to output the stream at whatever bit rate/resolution that they want. Is this not possible? I understand that if you use it as a simple webcam in another program it will auto-sense the internet connection and adjust itself, but when using software like OBS that is made to tweak your stream details, it seems like it should let the full, fast signal through if you want it to. Any help is appreciated on that.
