Exporting graded clips to another project

PostWed Jul 12, 2017 1:21 am

I've got some clips I graded in one project I would like to use on another without re-grading. Is there an easy way to export or transfer so I'm still able to fine tune existing settings (i.e. Tracking, grade, FX) in the new project?

Right click the graded clip in the Color page window, select "grab still", then right click the still (now in the gallery) and chose export (.dpx). Then right click an empty area of the stills gallery of the new project, import that .dpx file and with the ungraded clip in the color page window, right click the still and "apply grade".

You could also create a timeline with all the clips with grades you want to preserve and copy it into a new project (use dynamic project switching).

I think that Stills doesn't retain tracking data.
When I need to reuse a grade in a different Project I usually grab Stills into the PowerGrade bin, so they are available into all the database.

Thanks! Dynamic project switching works best for keyframes clips. The other methods work best without keyframes and if your RAM is low.
Appreciate the tips!
