libDeckLinkAPI.so not included in SDK?

Hi all,

Downloaded the SDK for DeckLink (Blackmagic_DeckLink_SDK_10.9.5.zip), compiled one of the samples, and it complains it cannot load libDeckLinkAPI.so.

This file was not included in the SDK, nor can I find how it can be compiled from the SDK, nor is it even mentioned in the documentation.

I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 X64.

That should be installed with the driver. Have you installed desktopvideo?

No, because I thought it was (literally) video software (e.g. Final Cut). I figured that installing the DeckLink SDK would enable me to use the hardware.

So in this case "Desktop Video" means "hardware drivers"?

It builds the kernel modules and also installs the firmware update utility. There's a GUI interface to the card settings which is useful for testing the system prior to writing with the SDK and MediaExpress all included in the tarball.
