Micro studio 4k camera shutting off.

PostSun Aug 06, 2017 4:19 pm

I am using 3 micro studio cameras and I have 1 that shuts off after about 15 minutes. Is there an auto shut off setting somewhere?

No, it is the battery, that is dropping below 7.2 VDC in about 15min. The camera needs a minimum 7.2 VDC input from the battery or it turns off, same with the Micro Cinema camera. I had a Canon LP/E6 battery that was going bad, domthe same thing. Finally, the battery stopped taking a charge. Switch to a new Canin LP/E6 battery for best results. You can also test the camera by plugging in the mains power cord, and see if it shuts off.

There is no auto shoput down on the camera, except when under powered. Unlike a non-Studio video/recorder camera like the Cinema camera, the Micro Studio is drawing full power from the battery the entire time it is turned on, it does not have a standby mode, so battery consumption is going to be greater, and run time via battery depending on the quality of the battery being used. Canon OEM batteries seem to give the best results.

Also if you already feeding it from external power supply.. Check if the camera is much hotter then the other 2 cameras.. Might mbe a safety shutoff to prevent overheating

It has been on an external power. And still shuts off.

Sounds like a problem with the camera to me, ours can be seemingly indefinitely on line power.

Yes, sounds like a camera power supply issue... just to be sure which end, try switching the power mains adapter with on if the working cameras and see if the issue follows the power adapter. If not, it is the DC/DC power board in the camera, or a failure in the camera cooling system?
You will need to contact BM Regional Support office in your area for repair.

Good luck.

Gianna, were you ever able to fix this? I'm also having this issue. Camera is plugged in DC and will cycle power randomly.

Sounds like a bad power cable/connection that is intermittent. Do a stress check on your cables.
