Extracting GPS and doing something useful with them

PostThu Aug 10, 2017 7:51 am

Hi all.
I saw that some consumer NLE offers a 3d party plugin that will extract GPS information to create an map overlay from where the footage was taken.

I'm curious to learn if this is something that exists out there as a software product?
(i.e. I pass it my original clip and it spits out a map animation, or map with pin on it)

I often have footage from kajaking that contain my GPS movement, it would be fun to overlay a map to show the journey :)

and.. I love FREE, in case it exists :D

just use the KML or GPX file in google earth and record your screen if your device keeps one if not find out how your video file stores it the convert it to a KML format. If you have the GPS metadata you can use GPStrackeditor to generate gPX files. If you have Office365 Excel is really good at doing map data visualization and animations and has some really good guides on doing it.
