Production and a test on a single computer

PostSat Aug 26, 2017 1:33 pm

A) Production and test version on a single computer?
Is it possible? What to observe at installation?
Is there a nice solution for users who want to do some testing of new betas besides the normal projects on an a stable production version?
Why? I only own a single DR-ready computer!

B) Downgrade-/Update instructions? How should it be done?
Either, simple install over current version? ...as admin?
Or, full procedure? ...as admin?

Why? When I installed DR14 beta7 for the first time simply iover DR12.5, thne DR14 beta 7 did not work properly. Full procedure gave better results.

Full procedure:
First "Full" Deinstall:
1. Full Deinstallation of DaVinci Resolve and of DaVinci Resolve Panels.
2. Reboot.
3. Full Backup of "C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design" to another namend folder (just in case).
4. Full Delete of "C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design"
5. Full Delete of "C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve"
6. Did not dare to touch DaVinci Resolve registry entries, though!
7. Reboot
Then
8. "Fresh" installation of DaVinci Resolve "from scratch" "...as admin":
right click "DaVinci_Resolve_14.0b8_Windows.exe" "run as admin"
to C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\
9. Reboot
Are all these steps necessary?

C) Is it necessary to "run DR as administrator" ?
I started the DR installation exe ...as admin.
I also do all my DR production and test runs "...as admin".
Is "run ...as admin" necessary?

Is there a description for the advised, adviced installation and running steps available?

Thanks!
