AVCHD no audio support- is there another way?

PostSun Mar 12, 2017 6:01 am

Hi guys

I have some footage filmed on a sony Handycam/ model : HDR-PJ790V and as a result i have no audio because it is an AVCHD file and Davinci doesn't support that

Is there another way that i can import my AVCHD audio to davinci?

Please and thank you so much

i have the same with a sony handycam i used a lot and has to do with the audio format in these files. There is a sollition that is relatively fast compared to fully transcoding.
You can do a socalled rewrap of the files. EditReady i have used for this mostly and its lightning fast. Then resolve can read the files with audio.

Or of course you can transcode the files to your targeted editing format for better editing experience.

+1 for Edit Ready.

It's a fixed part of my workflow now.
I just use it to rewrap or transcode instead if copying the files to my media RAID.

It doesn't do batch encodes in the free version and can't rewrap either. Wouldn't recommend that one.

Also if i want to transcode footage that im still editing

Does it automatically replace the previous clip in davinci or do i have to drag it?

(Im pretty sure this is a stupid question but i really don't know if there is a chance it could work)

Please and thank you

You have a plastic bag... You have iron and sand inside...

Re-wrapping turns your plastic bag into paperboard without any change to your iron and sand duo; transcoding changes the bag AND iron and/or sand into something else.
Since Resolve is not begging for wood and oil, changing the bag only is enough and significantly quicker :)

In this case, you should probably replace the clip.

No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

 Very funny because when I wrote the moustache a few posts ago, it wasn't at all about - the probably efficient but win only - Dali but to ClipWrap : look at the logo (and the moustache moves a bit when you launch it or start rewrappings).
Now, this is a mac only tool, to complete Dali's suggestion
