Thread: One 1080Ti or two 1070 for Davinci ?

PostMon Oct 02, 2017 1:29 pm

Putting together another computer specifically to edit 4k. I am curious if I would be better off to spend $800 on a single 108Ti or two 1070 for GPU ?

Intel - Core i7-6850K 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor

Asus - X99-DELUXE II ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard

G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400

Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Seagate - Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Which card or cards would you use and any recommendations on above hardware greatly appreciated . My budget is roughly $2k

I think its a bit of a toss up. r14 makes really good use of a single card when its a modern card like the 1080ti and doesn't have the need for a GUI card anymore. If you don't have the full version of resolve then obviously just get a single card. You might also have some cash to upgrade with a second 1080ti later so thats something to consider.

Just make sure the card you get is a 2 lane pci thing, I just picked one up and it takes up 3 lanes, which isn't ideal when I need to update later.
