a common workflow would be to edit your piece, lock down the shots you need, and then worry about all the compositing after the edit is locked.
Sending 300 shots out to get treated, only to later decide you are dropping 10, 20, 50 or them, or extending some of them is not a great use of your resources.
It is very common to not have final vfx work for the initial edit.
You could edit the piece, send to Resolve for color, and from Resolve send to Fusion (or AE) for final comps to be done.
I wouldn't usually send off the vfx shots at stage one. Things always change.
