Forum ability to "tag" a person in a post?

PostMon Nov 06, 2017 2:55 pm

If we're referring to another forum user, is there a way to call their attention of the reference via a "tag" like in many other similar social ecosystems?

Thanks.

I don't believe there is , the best you can do is to 'quote' the post ur responding to ( as I have done with urs )

You can send private messages to other members via the web page, but I've never done so myself.

Thanks for the response. I have used the 'quote' ability and, while it fulfills some of what I'm looking for, it doesn't give you the same options tagging would. Oh well, I suppose I'd rather have cutting edge development time spent on Resolve than on the forums ;)

The "phpBB" forum software used to run these forums is very old - 13 or 14 years old - and its core code is Open Source. Although the code can therefore be modified by the host (as it has here in order to wrap the main Blackmagic website around it) it does require specialised PHP coding skills to make any changes. Clearly, BM doesn't really want to devote resources to this and I can't say I blame them. I ran a couple of very busy phpBB forums for several years and there's a lot of work involved in doing so as it is.
Blackmagic Teranex 2D, Ultrastudio Express, Intensity Shuttle (Thunderbolt), Two H.264 Pro Recorders (Mac OSX) & lots of old VTRs used for digital archiving of legacy video formats for major libraries, broadcasters, universities and public archives.

Thanks for this very informed answer Colin. We'll live with quoting for now.
