URSA Mini 3K Anamorphic Davinci Resolve export

PostMon Nov 13, 2017 5:04 am

Hi All,

I've got some confusion about resolution and pixel aspect ratio that I need to clear up. We shot on an URSA Mini - 3K Anamorphic (3072x2560 6:5) with a 2x Squeeze. I've looked around many places and have asked people before but got different answers.

Davinci Resolve
The footage and timeline are set to 3072x2560 with a Cinemascope pixel aspect ratio.

1. What is the best or correct export settings (not format or codec) for highest possible quality?
3072x2560 Cinemascope
or
6144x2560 Square Pixels
or
3072x1280 Square Pixels
Is there a significant difference between the first two options?

2. The biggest confusion for me is working with resolution and pixel aspect ratio.
If I am asked to deliver a 3072x1280 2.40:1 clip.
Would I export...
1536x1280 Cinemascope
or
3072x1280 Square Pixels
Is there a difference? I am completely off?

Thanks in advance.

What is your distribution channel?

3K from a CMOS sensor will not really resolve 3K, rather like HD. No reason at all to blow it up for information that is not recorded in the first place.
