Issue with mini recorder

PostMon Dec 04, 2017 4:25 pm

So, we livestream using a blackmagic studio mini recorder (with thunderbolt 2). I was volunteering my laptop until we purchased a new iMac.

Here is the Issue: The new iMacs do not have thunderbolt 2. Just USB and Thunderbolt 3 (mini display). So I purchased an adapter. I downloaded the driver software (Blackmagic Desktop Video) and it says "no source connected, please make sure device is plugged in with Thunderbolt, USBc or SDIe. So, is it the driver? Or should I go Thunderbolt 2 to USBc instead of Thunderbolt 2 to mini display?

There are several topics on the forum about this. In most cases a adapter cable does not work.
In some cases only the official Apple cable works.
